Ronnie looked at the caller ID of her cell phone and saw that it was her dad calling her. She wondered why he would be calling her when he knew she had class. She had given her dad her schedule and she left the classroom and answered the phone,"Hello? What? Dad p-please tell me you're joking. W-When? I'll be there.... No dad! I have to, she's my mom. I'll be on the next flight to New York. I love you too dad," Ronnie said as she hung up the phone. She could feel the tears filling her eyes. The familiar tickling in the back of her nose meaning she was mere seconds away from crying. She opened the classroom door and she grabbed her books and left the class. She ignored the teacher who was calling to her, asking her what was wrong.
Ronnie walked out of the building and went straight to her dorm room. She needed Mason right now. There was only one person who was going to make her feel better and that was him. Ronnie threw her books on her bed and stormed out of her room. She ignored everyone who called to her. She didn't want to talk to anyone. She just wanted to talk to Mason. She had her sight set on him and no one was going to stop her. Ronnie began looking around the campus. Ronnie stopped short after 10 minutes of searching. She saw him alright. But it was who he was with that made her heart stop. He was with another girl. She knew that they weren't dating or that he was hers but just the thought of him kissing another girl, being with another girl, getting intimate with another girl killed her. Ronnie felt anger, hatred and she just wanted to slap him across the face. Ronnie usually was never like this and was never blunt and did things out of a whim but this time, she needed to blow off some steam. Ronnie stalked over to him and she slapped him across the face, "I hate you! I can't believe you Mason! Ugh! I just hate you so much!" Ronnie said. She felt tears falling down her face. She couldn't stand to cry in front of him. She felt a few tears fall down her face and she slapped him once last time and she ran away from him. She never even told him what she wanted to tell him. She needed to get away.
Ronnie packed her suitcase and she had a friend drive her to the airport, calling the airport on the way there. She booked her flight and she was going to stay in the airport until her flight. She couldn't stand to be on campus anymore. Ronnie thanked her friend and she went into the airport. She got her ticket and checked her bag in and went through security. She sat in the terminal where her flight was going to take off. She took out her cell phone and she texted Mason. She was in no mood to talk to him but she felt he had the right to know. Ronnie sent the text and she turned off her phone. A few hours later it was time for her flight. Ronnie boarded the flight and the plane took off moments later. She sighed she was going home. And maybe it was for good._--_ 3 days later _--_
When Ronnie first arrived in New York, her dad seemed to be holding up well. However now, he was breaking. Ronnie had to be strong for her dad. She knew this was hard for him but it was extremely hard for her. She regretted everything she ever said to her mom. And now she was never going to be able to tell her that she was sorry. She stood in her mom and dads room looking at her mom's jewelery. She picked up a necklace that her mom always wore and she put it on. She heard someone knock on the wood frame and she saw her dad. "She knew you were sorry. She wanted me to tell you that when I saw you. Your mom was so proud of you,"Steve Miller said walking into the room. He hugged Ronnie and Ronnie smiled at her dad, "I just wish I was here to say good bye and to tell her that I love her." Ronnie said softly.
Ronnie entered the funeral home with her dad and she went into the room where her mom's casket was. Ronnie felt tears gather in her eyes but she blinked them away. Her dad had told her that the casket was going to be closed because her mom had killed herself. Ronnie went up to it and laid her head down on it. She felt like she was hugging her mom. She watched as people filled the room and people came up to her to tell her they were sorry for her loss. Ronnie escaped and she curled up in the chair in the back of the room. She just wanted to disappear. She couldn't stand people. The one person she wanted to be there wasn't there.
